8x12 inch photo of HMS Campbeltown, shown rammed into the dock at St Nazaire, signed by Major General Corran Purdon MC, who as a Lieutenant in No12 Commando, took part in the 'Greatest Raid of all' on St Nazaire and was captured, escaped and sent to Spangenburg POW camp from where he escaped, was recaptured and sent to Colditz in 1943. His mission at St Nazaire was to lead a demolitions unit to destroy part of the docks at St Nazaire. When the Americans liberated the men at Colditz in April 1945, Purdon asked for permission to join them in their final push through Germany. His request was granted. An extraordinary man, who signed for us at an exclusive private signing at his home in 2010
